Indigenous Peoples March, DC 2019

I was at the Indigenous People's March. I had left shortly before this happened. #IPMDC19 was a powerful expression of the resilience, astonishingly generous love and healing wisdom and leadership of indigenous peoples and communities. It was the first such march, signifying a coming together of indigenous peoples from across the world, along with allies, to strengthen the body and voice of that love, wisdom and resilience in this particular time.

The response of elder Nathan Philips to the aggression and disrespect of these teens is the #goodmedicine we all need. I am personally astonished at the generosity of the native people I have met; after we - individuals and groups benefiting from systems of white settler culture - have attempted to wipe them off the face of this land, after we have repeatedly - in policy, in personal attacks, in our legal system - tried to disappear them and define them out of the grace of being human; that they are willing to share their good medicine, to speak for the water and for the land on behalf of the well being of all of us, that they are willing to include us in their healing and love. It is astonishing. #ipmdc19,
