The NOne & Some Project is a conversation about How we know, HOw we are moved, and HOw we are drawn together.

Lindsey Peterson writes and hosts interviews for the NOne & Some Project here, focusing in on the individual's nuanced experience of these big themes

Musings - A refreshing definition of faith

Trusting your own deepest experience.
— Sharon Salzberg

Salzberg offers up this refreshing definition of faith in her book. Faith is trusting in your own deepest experience.

Faith as trusting in your own deepest experience lends itself to several follow up questions. It is not entirely obvious what it means. It opens a discourse that is far more curious and engaging that what comes of out of the religiously-hosued questions of belief; do you belief in God?

Faith as trusting in your own deepest experience asks:

  • What is your own experience, your own deepest experience? How do you know it?
  • There is in it some requirement of self-awareness. And of bodily awareness. How do you notice yourself and your deepest experience?
  • How do you then trust it? What is an action of trust? Faith as trusting in your deepest experience. When demonstrates that trust?
